Getting Started
KimoStories provides a complete authoring suite for writers. You can manage your novels solo via the Author Dashboard or collaborate with up to 5 authors simultaneously using our live writing workspaces.
How to publish a solo novel:
- Click the Author Dashboard button in the top navbar.
- Set up your Author Profile, choose your pen name, and click "Create New Novel".
- Submit your cover art, select genres, write a synopsis, and add your first chapter.
Co-Writing & Roleplay
Collaborative Roleplay is an interactive multiplayer sandbox. Instead of writing alone, you create a shared chat room with up to 5 other writers. Together, you take turns drafting paragraphs and dialogues to write a novel in real-time.
Room Leaders
The creator of the room acts as the leader. Leaders set the lore/rules, can kick disruptive authors, and hold the exclusive keys to compile drafts into published chapters.
Joining Authors
Co-authors browse active sessions in the Lobby, join a room, and enter paragraphs. Every message they submit is appended to the draft novel flow.
Workspace Controls & Actions
Collaborative workspaces have specific actions to maintain quality control and manage the flow of the book:
Chapter Done (Leader only)
Compiles the current chat log into a new Chapter of the active volume, clears the room message log, and keeps the room open so you can begin co-writing the next chapter.
Volume Done (Leader only)
Creates a brand new Volume (e.g., Volume 2, Volume 3) for the novel, compiles the current chat log as the first chapter under this new volume, and clears the room to start fresh.
Finish Novel (Leader only)
Compiles the final chat log into the last chapter, marks the novel as finished, and closes the room permanently.
Democratic message voting
If a participant enters a low-quality message, co-authors can vote to clear it. Once a message receives a majority of votes from the active participants, it is automatically removed.
The Publishing System
Once a leader clicks Chapter Done or Finish Novel, our automated background compiler runs a sequence of steps to format the text into a clean novel layout:

Strips Chat Metadata
Removes usernames, avatar details, timestamps, and controls.

Builds Chapters
Combines messages into a clean flowing prose with paragraph spacing.

Launches Live
Adds the chapter directly to your novel on the site for readers.
